Mariah Carey, Nick Cannon reportedly arguing about custody of their four-legged children

Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon’s separation has seemed to be mostly peaceful. But it seems that discussing the custody of their children – their four-legged children, that is – might make it a little uglier.

According to UK tabloid The Sunday Express, the devoted parents of twin toddlers Moroccan and Monroe have already struck a deal to share parenting of the three-year-olds, but they are butting heads about their eight pet dogs.

They cannot agree on who will keep their Jack Russell Terriers, reportedly named The Good Reverend Pow Jackson, Mutley P Gore Jackson The Third, Jill E Beans, Piptty Jackson, Cha, Jackie Lambchops, JJ and Squeak E Beans.

The tabloid said they are disagreeing so much that Carey, 44, has reportedly insisted in court papers that she should have custody of all of them. Yet the “America’s Got Talent” host claimed he has a “special bond” with The Good Reverend Pow Jackson and Mutley P Gore Jackson the Third.

Cannon, 34, is allegedly demanding sole custody of the pair and visitation rights to the rest, the Express reported.

A source told the tabloid that the dog issue is the stumbling block in negotiations between the two.

“There is no animosity over their kids or their fortunes,” the source said. “They both believe Roc and Roe (their children) should spend equal time with them and there’s a rock-solid prenup in place as far as the money is concerned.”

News of Carey and Cannon’s impending divorce started swirling earlier this summer. Giving truth to the reports, the TV host recently revealed new ink covering his famous "Mariah" back tattoo.

While they have been mostly quiet about the split, Cannon recently told People that he is taking it one day at a time.

“Ultimately I would think that is what life is all about, to try to pursue happiness, and I try to wake up and take each day with a grain of salt, and say, ‘How can I be happy today? How can I affect someone else’s day, and hopefully make them happy?’” he said.

Cannon, who defended his love for Carey in the wake of their split, did not talk specifically about the split and added that he remains thankful and blessed.

“I wake up every day feeling blessed to be able to be creative and that someone is paying me to be creative is the most mind-boggling thing to me in the world … and I just know that all of this other stuff is truly just a blessing,” he said. “I’m constantly reminded (of that) because I don’t stay far away from the community in which I was raised.”
