TLC reality star Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson and her family were in a car crash on Monday night, the family said in a statement Tuesday.
The family’s car collided with a truck when the truck driver ran a red light and hit the famous fam’s vehicle as they were turning, TMZ reported.
"It was really scary for us, since it was the first time any of us had ever been in a wreck," Mama June, Alana's mother, said in a statement to Fox411.com. "We are defeinitely really sore today, but our top priority is to celebrate Pumpkin’s birthday. She turned 14 today, and no matter how sore we feel, we are going to go out and celebrate. As always we want to thank everyone for their support and well wishes.”
Members of the family were reportedly taken to the hospital by ambulance. Alana’s father, Mike “Sugar Bear” Thompson was driving at the time of the crash and he sustained a concussion, TMZ reported.
Two of Alana’s sisters, Lauryn “Pumpkin” Shannon and Jessica “Chubbs” Shannon, were also in the car during the crash, and Honey Boo Boo was left with a headache after the crash, Pumpkin told TMZ.
June has back injuries, her daughter added.
“Honey Boo Boo” is set to return to TLC with all new episodes on Jan. 16. The show follows the antics of 8-year-old Alana and her colorful family.
