Get Ready to See Archie on the Big Screen

With so many comic books being adapted into movies these days, you'd think Hollywood would run out of source material to draw from. And depending on how much you like Archie Comics, they might have.

But for those of you that love Archie, get ready for some good news: According to Variety, your favorite carrot-topped cartoon character is headed for the big screen. Warner Bros. is planning to turn the comic into a live-action family comedy, with director Jason Moore of "Pitch Perfect" directing and screenwriter Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa of "Glee" tackling the script.

There's no word yet on who's playing the lead role (or the roles of Jughead, Betty, Veronica or Reggie), but the story is said to focus on Archie as he "faces a 'teenage midlife crisis' and must find his purpose in life before graduation."

It's not the first time Archie Comics are getting the live-action treatment. Archie and Co. once appeared in a 1990 TV movie called "Archie: To Riverdale and Back Again," and Archie Comics previously spawned a 2001 film adaptation of Josie and The Pussycats (starring Rachael Leigh Cook, Tara Reid and Rosario Dawson) and a 1996 television series based on Sabrina the Teenage Witch (starring Melissa Joan Hart).
