This week’s “Fox 411 Country Round-Up” starts with an update on Wynonna Judd’s husband and drummer, Michael Scott 'Cactus' Moser who as in a serious motorcycle accident in South Dakota. The two went for a ride together on separate bikes before Judd’s concert in Deadwood.
According to an official update on Judd’s website, Moser’s leg was severed at the scene and doctors in Rapid City amputated the leg above the knee. He has also undergone surgery for a hand injury. In the update officials state, “Judd and Moser appreciate all of the quick medical and police responders as well as the hospital staff and well-wishes from family, friends, and fans.” Earlier in the week Judd sent out a statement saying she had postponed her scheduled concerts in Canada.
In other news, we have the latest on country music singer Willie Nelson, cancelled a show in Colorado last Saturday August 18th after having trouble breathing. According to his rep, Nelson is doing fine and no dates are being postponed. By Tuesday, he performed to a sold out crowd at the House of Blues in Dallas, Tex.
In new music this week, there are two newcomers on the scene. Dustin Lynch lanuched self-titled debut album which includes the chart-climbing single "Cowboys and Angels." Dustin wrote 10 of the 13 songs on the album, including that hit tune.
JT Hodges also recently introduced his self-titled debut album. He let his fans choose his next single via Facebook. They picked “Sleepy Little Town” which is set for release September 10.
“The Grammy Nominations Concert Live! Countdown to Music’s Biggest Night” will be held in Nashville this year, rather than its usual Los Angeles site. The nominee announcements for the 55th Annual Grammy Awards will be held December 5 at the Bridgestone Area on CBS.
Last week our featured song of the week was led by 6-time Grammy winner Taylor Swift as she gathered fans in studio for a live web chat introducing her new single “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together." According to Billboard, it’s the biggest digital sales week ever for a song by a female artist with over 623,000 downloads. It not only debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Digital Songs chart, but it also took the #1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100. The song is off Swift’s upcoming album “Red” due out October 22nd.
Over on Billboard’s Country Songs Chart, Blake Shelton marks his seventh consecutive No.1 single with “Over,” the fourth single off his album “Red River Blue.” Next up, Shelton gets festive with his first Christmas album, “Cheers, It’s Christmas” out on October 2.
Before all of those Christmas albums are released, we should celebrate the country music of this past summer with the star-studded 'Pontoon Party' hit YouTube video! The viral video has received over 160,000 views and features stars lip-synching to Little Big Town’s hit tune. Larry Gatlin, Carrie Underwood, Lady Antebellum, Darius Rucker are all in the vid.
