Former ‘Deadliest Catch’ producer shot dead

Former “Deadliest Catch” producer Joe McMahon was shot and killed early Friday morning in front of his home in Pasadena, Calif. He was 25 years old.

“We are heartsick about this tragedy — our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and to all that knew and worked with him,” Discovery, the network behind “Deadliest Catch,” said in a statement.

Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies responded to the 3600 block of Yorkshire Road in the Chapman Woods neighborhood around 2:19 a.m. this morning, after receiving a call about possible shots fired, according to ABC 7 News. When police arrived, they found a 25-year-old man with gunshot wounds on the street. Authorities say the man’s body was found just one driveway from his home.

Family members identified the victim as McMahon, and said that he worked on “Deadliest Catch.”

According to his IMDB page, he worked as an associate producer on the hit series for nine episodes in 2013.

The motive for the tragic event has not been determined and an investigation is underway. Authorities do not believe drugs were involved, and there is no indication that McMahon had any gang affiliation.
