Disney Channel featured its first same-sex couple Sunday night during an episode of “Good Luck Charlie.”

First announced in June 2013, the episode featured lesbian mothers Susan and Cheryl, who drop off their daughter Taylor for a play date to the surprise of Charlie’s parents, played by Leigh-Allyn Baker and Eric Allan Kramer.

“Taylor has two moms!” the father blurts out.

“Wow, nothing gets past you, Bob,” his wife then proclaims sarcastically.

The move was hailed by former Disney Channel star Miley Cyrus last summer.

“I commend Disney for making this step into the light of this generation,” she tweeted.

Conservative group One Million Moms is up in arms about the episode. One of the group’s current issues listed on its website reads, “Please send an email letter and urge Care.com to stop sponsoring the Disney Channel if it pushes the LGBT agenda on our children during the program ‘Good Luck Charlie.’”

The group further writes, “If ‘Good Luck Charlie’ goes through with introducing LGBT content, then the floodgates will be opened for all programs on the Disney Channel – a trend that will be almost impossible to stop.”

“Good Luck Charlie” airs its final episode on Feb. 16.
