American Idol alum David Archuleta has been abruptly and unceremoniously dropped by from Jive Records.
After the singer’s new album, “The Other Side of Down,” only sold 67,000 copies, the label, which signed Archuleta in 2008, confirmed that he was “released from our roster,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Archuleta, who was the runner-up in the seventh season of American Idol, had better luck with his self-titled debut album three years ago, which sold over 1 million copies and went platinum.
Looking back at his American Idol experience, Archuleta does not regret the hardship of it all.
“I think part of that stress is good because it keeps you focused,” said the singer to The Hollywood Reporter.
