DA wants to reopen investigation into Pete Davidson after star's negative comments

The District Attorney in Onondaga County, where comedian Pete Davidson filmed a movie last summer, wants to reopen a case against the "Saturday Night Live" star after some negative comments he made about the town of Syracuse, N.Y.

Pete Davidson appeared at Sundance to promote his new movie “Big Time Adolescence." The 25-year-old actor filmed in Syracuse over the summer and was pulled over with a friend very late one night. Davidson was let go, but his friend was arrested on marijuana charges.

Speaking to Variety, Davidson pulled no punches when discussing the town and his distaste for it after filming.

“It sucked,” Davidson said. “The whole town of Syracuse blows. Let’s be honest, they just found out I was there and tried to arrest me the whole time.”

He continued: “The cops, because there’s nothing going on there, they were hunting me down the whole time. They tried to arrest me for bringing business to your town. Never again, Syracuse.”

Davidson previously called the town “trash” during an appearance on Howard Stern in September.

Following his most recent remarks at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, District Attorney William Fitzpatrick is calling on the Town of Manlius Police Department to reopen the case against Davidson over his unspecified vehicle and traffic violation, according to Syracuse.com.

“I just heard the comments of Pete Davidson,” Fitzpatrick told CNYCentral on Tuesday. “Not surprisingly, it was the first time I ever heard of Pete Davidson, and apparently he doesn’t like Syracuse. So I did a little background checking on him and, quite frankly, I’d be as likely to take tourism advice from Pete Davidson as I would marriage counseling from O.J. Simpson.”

He went on to explain that he plans to ask the Manlius police to look into the charges that were brought against him over the summer.

“And then we’ll see how much he really likes Syracuse,” he concludes.

Fitzpatrick did not immediately respond to Fox News' request for comment.

Davidson has been thrust in the spotlight over the past year thanks in large part to his high-profile engagement, and subsequent split, with singer Ariana Grande. In addition to several stand up performances, the “Saturday Night Live” star did a brief stretch in rehab after quitting Instagram.
