To prepare for his role in the upcoming World War II film "Fury," Brad Pitt took lessons from real-life soldiers.
The newly-married actor told Details magazine he was honored to be in the presence of United States military men and women.
"We were fortunate to have incredibly seasoned soldiers giving us their time and training," Pitt told Details. "I leave the experience with a more refined and delicate understanding of what we ask of our military. I am honored to be in their presence."
The actor also shared his thoughts on war.
"A soldier told me if you look at war closely, it's ludicrous," he said. "So you don't. You concentrate on the objective and the guys next to you."
Pitt said while U.S. soldiers are highly trained in combat, he hopes to see them better prepared for their return home.
"We do an incredible job preparing our soldiers to perform in combat, but statistics are showing us we need to do better preparing them for returning home. If you want to better understand the accumulative physic trauma incurred by our soldiers, read On Killing by Lt. Col. Dave Grossman."
