Angelina Jolie is primarily recognized for her philanthropic efforts in third world countries. But now the Oscar-winning actress and her baby daddy six times over Brad Pitt have forked out $150,000 in recognition of National Adoption Day in the good ol' U.S.A.

The day celebrates adoptive families and draws awareness to the 100,000 plus children still in need of adoptive families.

On Monday, the Jolie-Pitt Foundation donated the funds to SOS Children’s Villages-USA, an organization that plays a pivotal role in providing loving, stable homes for foster children whose biological families are unable to properly tend to their needs.

“I am truly thankful that Angelina and Brad understand the power of family – the kind of stable family that SOS holds as an essential part of healthy child development,” CEO of SOS Children’s Villages, Heather Paul said. “Angelina and Brad know that children’s need for a family is universal.”

Five months ago Jolie caused quite a commotion when she visited the SOS Villages in Santo, Haiti – bringing toys for the children and meeting with government officials regarding the protection of orphaned children and education initiatives in the poverty-stricken Caribbean country.
