Billy Ray Cyrus Explains 'Achy Breaky 2,' Hints at More Twerking Alien Women

By now, the entirety of the internet is well aware of "Achy Breaky 2," the sequel to Billy Ray Cyrus' 1992 hit song "Achy Breaky Heart."

Performed by Buck 22 and featuring Cyrus himself, the tune is a wild departure from the original, featuring laid-back rap verses interspersed within Cyrus' familiar refrains. And it can safely be said that the song's accompanying music video is — without exaggeration — the most ridiculous thing ever documented for film since the medium was created.

So what would make Cyrus, now 52, lend his name, likeness and voice to "Achy Breaky 2" (besides money)? In part, it was his daughter, Miley.

"She said, ‘You know what I’d do if I was you? My motto is, 'When the world says go left, go right,'" he recounted in an interview with The Tennessean. "She might not have known how close I was listening."

Cyrus was apparently remembering Miley's advice when he was working on a track with legendary singer Dionne Warwick, called "Hope is Just Ahead." While remixing her vocals in the studio, he was approached by Warwick's son — rapper Buck 22 — who asked about remixing "Achy Breaky Heart." Cyrus gave him the OK, and before long (literally a half-hour later), Buck 22 was almost finished. Cyrus, admiring Buck's work ethic, agreed to add his Cyrus-stank all over the track.

Then came the video, which Cyrus is vocally proud of. "One critic wrote out there that it made Miley’s VMA performance look like ‘Sesame Street. That’s the greatest compliment I’ve ever been given," he told The Tennessean. "I was still skeptical, but when the video came out one of the critics wrote, 'It’s only been out six hours and it's already 2014's worst song.' When I heard that, I knew I nailed it."

If Cyrus has his way, we'll also be seeing more of the video's naked alien babes at the Grand Ole Opry when he, Dionne Warwick and Buck 22 (hopefully) perform at the venue in the near future. "My man Buck is so excited about playing the Opry. I don’t know if the Opry has ever had twerking aliens," said Cyrus.

And while he's still obviously excited about "Achy Breaky 2" and its continued success, Cyrus is holding out for big things for "Hope is Just Ahead," as a portion of the song's proceeds will be donated to the Do The Write Thing-National Campaign to Stop Violence.
