Police say they found the bodies of a woman and her two children at a suburban Detroit home while they were trying to notify family members that a man had died in an Indiana freeway crash.
Police in Wayne County's Van Buren Township say they went to the home Thursday morning after being notified of the crash in Michigan City, Ind. They found a door ajar and, when no one responded, went into the home and found a mother and the two children dead. Cause of death wasn't immediately released.
Police say they found a weapon in the home, but didn't say what kind.
Police earlier said two died on Interstate 94 in northern Indiana. Indiana police say the crash was caused by a driver going the wrong way.
