Alejandro Fernández Debuts New Duet With Father Vicente Fernández

Mexican crooner Alejandro Fernández decided to share the mic with his legendary father for his new single, which made its debut this week.
The younger Fernández, known as “El Potrillo,” debuted his single “Me Olvide de Vivir (I Forgot To Live),” on Tuesday, a duet that features renowned King of Rancheras, Vicente Fernández.
It is the first studio recording in more than 20 years for father and son and is the second single off of Alejandro’s latest album “Confidencias.”
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}The 42-year-old singer’s new CD debuted in the No. 1 spot in the United States and in 19 other countries, according to a press release. It was produced by Phil Ramone.
Despite the two not recording together for more than two decades, the younger Fernandez has repeatedly said that his father, known as Charro de Huentitan, has played a major role in his life and has had a major impact in his professional and personal growth.
“This is a song very special for the two of us because we both identify a lot with it – it forms a part of our lives,” Alejandro said in a press release. “When we recorded the song in the studio at the ranch (in Mexico), it was very emotional because we both felt it in our hearts. We were singing in the studio and with just one look we could say it all.”
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}The album was recorded in Los Angeles over the summer and includes duets with Christina Aguilera and Rod Stewart.
Alejandro kicks off his “Confidencias” tour in Miami on Nov. 11, while his father is recovering from a pulmonary thrombosis.
