Welsh police arrest man in missing 5-year-old girl probe

Police in Wales say a man has been arrested by officers investigating the suspected abduction of a 5-year-old girl.

April Jones was last seen by another child getting into the driver's side of a grey van in the town of Machynlleth on Monday evening, and police said it appears she entered the van willingly.

Detective Superintendent Reg Bevan, from Dyfed Powys police, said the man was detained Tuesday while walking along the side of a road a few miles (kilometers) outside Machynlleth.

Bevan said the suspect lives locally and has a vehicle similar to the one described by witnesses to the girl's disappearance.

He said the force's priority is finding Jones alive and that police are continuing to search for the girl and pursuing several inquiries.
