A Yemeni military official says a U.S. drone strike has hit a house owned by a senior member of al-Qaida, killing five suspected militants.

The official says a drone-fired missile struck a house Wednesday in a residential area on the outskirts of the city of Hadramawt. He says said the home's owner, senior al-Qaida member Murad Ben Salem, was killed along with four other militants.

No further details were immediately available.

The official spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to brief the media.
