U.K. Red Arrows Pilot Killed in Ejector Crash

Britain's Royal Air Force has grounded aircraft fitted with the same sort of ejector seat involved in an accident that killed a pilot with the Red Arrows aerobatic display team.

The air force suspended all nonessential flying on Hawk T1, Tornado GR4 and Tucano aircraft on Wednesday. Flights in Afghanistan will not be affected.

Iraq war veteran Flight Lt. Sean Cunningham died Tuesday after being ejected from his seat while his plane was still on the ground. The accident took place at the Red Arrows' base at RAF Scampton in central England.

He is the second pilot from the nine-member stunt team to die within three months. In August, Flight Lt. John Egging died in a crash after a show in southern England.
