Topless European protesters charged with public indecency in Tunisia, trial June 5
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}The defense lawyer for the three European feminists that protested topless in front of the Tunis courthouse says they have been charged with offending public decency and threatening public order.
Souhaib Bahri said Friday they would appear in court June 5 and face up to two years in prison.
On Thursday, two French and a German member of the Ukrainian feminist group Femen protested for the release of a Tunisian member of the group currently in custody after her own protest in the religious center of Kairouan.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}The women were forcibly removed from the courthouse by police while angry Tunisians demonstrated against them and attacked journalists. Sboui, also known by her pseudonym Tyler, will also appear in court in Kairouan June 5 on charges of offending public decency.
