A teenager who police say admitted to theft and attempting to steal a vehicle was sentenced to 12 weeks in a young offenders institution and was told by a magistrates court that he cannot "touch or enter any unattended motor vehicle without the express permission of the owner."
The Manchester Evening News reported that Joshua Rushton, 18, was given a three-year anti-social behavior order, where the terms are laid out. The court justified the punishment due to his past record of being convicted of receiving stolen good and other offenses.
"He doesn’t own a car but he can’t go past one without trying the handle or seeing if there’s something in it," a police official told the paper.
