Thousands of teachers in the Dominican Republic have walked more than 120 miles (200 kilometers) to demand wage increases and other changes in the Caribbean nation's public schools.
The teachers also want the government to dedicate 4 percent of its revenues to the school system as required by law and to reinstate subsidized meals for student despite dozens of children repeatedly falling sick.
The mostly yellow-clad protesters finished their march Friday in Santo Domingo outside the Ministry of Education. The building was guarded by more than 300 police officers.
