An activist group and a state-owned Syrian TV station say a suicide bomber has blown himself up in Damascus.
Al-Ikhbariya TV says authorities stopped an armed group in the Rokn al-Deen neighborhood of the capital on Monday. It says that one member of the group blew himself up. It offered no further details.
The director of the Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, Rami Abdurrahman, says the bombing appeared to target a general who is responsible for army logistics and supplies.

Abdurrahman says the general and two of his guards were wounded in the blast, and one guard was killed.
The Observatory relies on a network of activists inside Syria for its information.
