Spain Arrests Cuban for Alleged Links to Al Qaeda

MADRID (AP) -- The Interior Ministry says Spanish police have arrested a Cuban man suspected of belonging to Al Qaeda.

A ministry statement says the man was detained Monday on the Mediterranean Island of Mallorca. It does not give his name or age, or say how long he has been living in Spain.

The statement said the man had undergone "a process of radicalization in recent years."

Police also says the man tried to recruit for the Islamist organization, praising terrorism and making unspecified threats.

The statement said the man had produced many videos accessible on YouTube in which he praises Al Qaeda and its goals.

No one was available at the Interior Ministry to provide more details on the suspect.
