South Florida Wrings Itself After Deluge

While the region was spared from any direct landfall from Hurricane Rina, they were not spared from its heavy rains.

While South Florida was spared from any direct landfall from what was Hurricane Rina, they were not spared from its heavy rains.

Flooding rain hit the region from Friday, October 25, thru early Monday morning as a cold front passed through the Southeast, helping to pull some of Rina’s downpours into South Florida. Some of the most impressive rain totals came out of Miami-Dade and Broward counties.

Check out some of these totals from the National Weather Service (NWS):

COCONUT GROVE                                        10.72
HOLLYWOOD                                                10.00
FAIRCHILD TROPICAL GARDENS              9.70

Fortunately, South Florida is expecting much drier conditions today which will help the flood waters recede. Flooded roadways and structures are still being reported.
