Slovak cannibal suspect dies in hospital

An official says a would-be cannibal who was wounded during an undercover police operation has died in a hospital.

Jaroslava Oravcova, spokeswoman for a university clinic in the eastern city of Kosice said the 43-year-old father of two died on Thursday.

He was wounded Tuesday after a gunbattle with officers during an undercover police operation to apprehend him.

Police believe the man used the Internet to search for a person who wanted to commit suicide and would agree to let him eat the body. A Swiss citizen initially agreed but later changed his mind and informed authorities.

Police didn't immediately comment.
