Rebels shell village in central Yemen, killing 8 civilians

Witnesses say Yemen's Houthi rebels have shelled a village in the center of the country, killing at least eight civilians and wounding 15.

Residents say the Iran-backed rebels bombarded the Haglan Maris village late Sunday, and that most of the dead belong to one family. They spoke on condition of anonymity because of security fears.

The Houthis are at war with a Saudi-led coalition, which intervened in March 2015 to try and restore the internationally recognized government.

The stalemated conflict has killed over 10,000 people and displaced more than 2 million.
