South Africa's elite police investigative unit says no arrests have been made yet in for the murder of a former Rwandan spymaster in a Johannesburg hotel.

Hawks spokesman Capt. Paul Ramaloko on Wednesday denied local reports on arrests, and said police continue to investigate Patrick Karegeya's killing.

The New Age newspaper reported that three Rwandan nationals had been arrested in a hotel in the Mozambican capital Maputo for the murder.

Ramaloko said: "That's not correct."

A private investigator, Chad Thomas, said he had been informed that a Rwandan by the name of Lt. Col. Francis Gakwerere had been questioned by the Mozambican police but he was not sure whether Gakwerere or any other Rwandan nationals were being held in the neighboring country for the murder.
