Police: NYC woman drowns in Puerto Rico river

Puerto Rican authorities are trying to recover the body of a New York City woman who has apparently drowned in a popular tourist spot.

Police say the body of Bronx resident Kenah Huggins was found Sunday in a river in El Yunque, the only tropical rainforest in the U.S. National Forest system.

Huggins was apparently taking photographs in the mountain park on Saturday and was swept away by a rushing river after she lost her footing.

El Yunque is located in northeastern Puerto Rico and receives up to 1 million visitors a year.

After Huggins' death, Puerto Rico's tourism agency issued a statement exhorting visitors to be careful around rivers, lakes and bodies of water swollen by the heavy rains left behind by Tropical Storm Isaac.
