Police: 17 killed in fire at New Delhi hotel, 4 others hurt

Seventeen people have died in a fire at a hotel in western New Delhi.

Police spokesman Mandeep Singh Randhawa says at least four others were injured in the fire early Tuesday at the Arpit Palace Hotel in the Karol Bagh neighborhood of India's capital city.

Their medical conditions were not immediately known.

Fire officer Vijay Paul says 25 fire engines responded to the blaze, which has been extinguished.

Paul says the fire engulfed most of the five-story hotel.

Paul says 35 people were rescued from the hotel.
