LIMA, Peru – Peru's president is signing off on the extradition of the country's former soccer boss for his alleged involvement in a multibillion-dollar FIFA bribery scandal involving marketing and broadcasting rights.
Manuel Burga has been in jail since December as part of the investigation. Peru's Supreme Court in June had cleared the way for his extradition to the United States. President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski's decree authorizing the move came Thursday.
It's not clear when Burga will be sent to the U.S.
Burga oversaw Peru's football federation for more than a decade until 2014. He has denied any wrongdoing.
