A Paraguayan was among the 11 people arrested in northern Spain on Wednesday for suspected links to jihadi terror activity and the Islamic State organization.

Catalan police said the 10 men and a woman were detained in five northeastern towns, including Barcelona, the capital. Among those arrested, nine were Spaniards and one was from Morocco.

Police declined to reveal any more details about the operation, which was coordinated by the National Court in Madrid.

A police statement said some 360 Mossos d'Esquadra regional police officers took part in 13 raids in one of the region's biggest operations against jihadi activity.

Spain has arrested dozens of suspected jihadi militants and recruiters in recent years.
