A Pakistani government official says Indian troops have fired across the Line of Control in the disputed Kashmir region, killing a woman and wounding six others.

Hameed Kiani, a deputy commissioner, said Saturday's alleged ceasefire violation by India took place in the Kotli district in Pakistan's part of Kashmir.

Pakistan's foreign ministry said it has summoned an Indian diplomat and lodged a complaint against the latest Indian shelling.

In a statement, it said Indian forces since January have carried out over 900 ceasefire violations, killing 21 civilians.

There was no immediate comment from the Indian government.

Kashmir is split between the two nuclear-armed rivals. Both claim the region in its entirety and have fought two wars over it.
