Opposition general strike disrupts Bangladesh life
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}A leading business chamber in Bangladesh has called for alternative protests to strikes as an opposition-sponsored general strike continues to disrupt daily life.
Schools and most businesses remained closed in the capital, Dhaka, and other major cities and towns across the South Asian nation for a second straight day Monday. The opposition is enforcing the strike to protest the disappearance of one of their leaders. Last week, it enforced a three-day strike.
The Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry says the strike is hurting the poor country's economy and has urged opposition parties to shun it.
