Officials confirm 2 NATO soldiers shot in Afghanistan were British

Britain's Ministry of Defense has confirmed two NATO soldiers shot dead Saturday in Afghanistan were British.

The ministry says the soldiers were shot by members of the Afghan Police Force when the soldiers were providing security for a meeting with local officials in the southern Helmand province.

One of the men was a soldier serving with 1st Battalion Welsh Guards and the other was a Royal Air Force airman.

The ministry said Sunday family members have been informed.
