Myanmar army commander pledges to support successful holding of 2015 elections
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Myanmar's powerful army commander has pledged to work to support successful elections in November and warned that the army will not tolerate instability or armed threats.
Commander-in-chief of defense forces Senior Gen. Min Aung Hlaing was speaking to more than 10,000 troops at an event marking 70th anniversary Armed Forces Day, which commemorates the day the army rose up against Japanese occupiers during World War II.
The army chief said in his address that the elections to be held in early November represents an important landmark toward implementing democracy and said he will not tolerate any disturbance to stability or any armed threats before them.
