International drug trafficking ring dismantled in Brazil
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Brazilian police say they have dismantled an international drug trafficking ring that for almost two years sent cocaine to Europe hidden in crates containing frozen fish.
Federal police inspector Paulo Teles tells reporters that a Colombian, two Portuguese, three Spaniards and five Brazilians have been arrested in Portugal, Switzerland and Brazil.
Teles said Tuesday that Brazilian police had the help of the Drug Enforcement Administration and Spanish, Portuguese, Colombian and Uruguayan police forces.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}The inspector says the drug came from Colombia and Bolivia. At a fish packing plant in southern Brazil, the drug was hidden inside bags of ice used to pack the fish flown to Portugal.
He says 10 million reals ($5 million) worth of assets belonging to the group have been seized.
