Indonesian school janitor in court, accused of raping boy at prestigious international school

The first of five janitors went on trial in Indonesia's capital on charges he raped a kindergartner in a bathroom at a prestigious international school facing a storm of controversy following allegations of more abuse.

The custodians contracted to work at Jakarta International School were arrested in April and included five men and a woman. One other man committed suicide while in police custody after drinking bathroom cleanser. The closed-door trial started Tuesday.

The remaining four defendants are expected to appear on Wednesday, and they could face up to 15 years in jail if found guilty. The boy's parents have sued the school, seeking $125 million in compensation.
