Indonesia T-50 jet fighter crashes at air show, killing 2 pilots

A jet fighter has crashed during an air show in Indonesia, killing two pilots. No one on the ground was injured.

Air force spokesman Dwi Badarmanto says the crash occurred Sunday on the second day of an air show celebrating the 70th anniversary of the Air Force Flight School in Yogyakarta, a tourist city on the main island of Java.

Badarmanto says the pilot and co-pilot — both Indonesians — aboard the KAI T-50i Golden Eagle aircraft died instantly, and an investigation team has been sent to the crash site.

Jawardi, a witness at the scene who goes by a single name, told MetroTV that the South Korea-made light attack aircraft was apparently spinning out of control during its aerobatic maneuvering and crashed into an air force base complex.
