BANGALORE, India -- Three Indian lawmakers resigned Wednesday after they were filmed allegedly watching porn on a cell phone during a heated debate at a state assembly in Bangalore, southern India.

Lakshman Savdi, the minister for cooperation, and C.C. Patil, the minister for women and children, were captured on TV footage broadcast Tuesday apparently watching a porn film clip on Savdi's cell phone at the legislative assembly for the central Indian state of Karnataka, the Times of India reported.

The clip was allegedly provided by Krishna B. Palemar, the minister for ports and the environment, according to the newspaper.

The right-wing Bharatiya Janata Party, which rules Karnataka, ordered the three men to resign over the footage, which caused uproar across the country.

The three men deny the accusations.

A spokesman for the party said an inquiry would take place and that the "truth will be out" soon.
