COPENHAGEN, Denmark – Danish police say they have arrested a 31-year-old man suspected of making a series of emailed bomb threats against major airports, a hospital, and at least two shopping centers, university campuses and public squares across the country.
The unidentified man was arrested Monday evening and faces a detention hearing Tuesday on preliminary charges of making threats that can cause "serious fear." If convicted, he risks fines or up to one year in jail.
Danish media quoted police as saying the man had a history of mental illness.
Although police had assessed the threats in Copenhagen and major cities and towns like Aarhus, Roskilde and Slagelse weren't serious, there led to dozens of partial or total evacuations. No one was injured.
