TEGUCIGALPA, Honduras – Thousands of protesters in Honduras' capital of Tegucigalpa are blocking Supreme Court judges from entering the court's building, saying they want to "clean up Honduras' justice system."
Protest organizer Marco Antonio Bhaday says they want all 15 Supreme Court judges to be removed from their posts.
The Honduran Congress in December voted to dismiss four Supreme Court justices after they rejected a plan by President Porfirio Lobo to reform the corrupt national police. The judges have appealed the decision.
Bhaday says the judges are preventing justice from being delivered in the poor Central American country. He is president of the Honduran Employers Federation.
The Supreme Court was scheduled to hold a session Thursday but only one judge was able to get into the building because of the protest.
