Mexican authorities say gunmen kidnapped a police beat reporter from his home in Veracruz state, where at least a dozen journalists have been slain or gone missing since 2010.
Veracruz state prosecutors say police and Mexican marines are searching for reporter Gregorio Jimenez.
The newspaper Notisur says Jimenez's wife and other witnesses reported that at least five masked gunmen broke into his home in the city of Coatzacoalcos on Wednesday, dragged him out and drove him away in a gray SUV.

Jimenez works for Notisur and the newspaper El Liberal.
Notisur news editor Sayda Chinas says Jimenez had recently published a story about a series of kidnappings in Villa Allende, which is a populous neighborhood in Coatzacoalcos.
A Notisur statement calls Jimenez "a hard-working and honest reporter."
