Gulf Air Says Plane Skids Off Runway in India
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Gulf Air said one of its passenger planes skidded off the runway upon landing in the southern Indian city of Kochi early Monday, injuring one person.
The Bahrain-based carrier said the accident happened as the Airbus A320 touched down at
Kochi International Airport at 1:45 a.m. local time.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Gulf Air flight GF270 was carrying six crew and 137 passengers, including an infant, the airline said. All were evacuated.
The injured passenger is an Indian citizen who was taken to the hospital for treatment. The carrier said his situation isn't critical but it wasn't immediately able to provide details of his injuries.
Gulf Air said it is working with the authorities to determine the cause of the accident.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Airline spokeswoman Katherine Kaczynska said there was heavy rain at the time of landing, and that part of the plane's landing gear was damaged in the accident.
"The nose landing gear collapsed ... during the skid," she told The Associated Press. She said the plane's emergency slides were deployed.
