Police say a Liberian man, his partner and her grandson were injured in what appears to have been a racially motivated attack at the man's home in eastern Germany.
Police in Saxony-Anhalt state said two men rang the doorbell at the Liberian's apartment in Merseburg on Thursday evening. Armed with a baton and brass knuckles, they attacked the 44-year-old man and then his 47-year-old partner. The five-year-old child also was hurt in the scuffle.
The assailants left, but one returned after police arrived and made racist comments. Officers then tracked down the other suspect.
