Authorities say at least four people, including three children, have died and a dozen have been injured in flash flooding in northwestern Macedonia that caused landslides, power outages and road damage.

Marjan Josifovski, police spokesman in the northern city of Tetovo, told the AP Tuesday that scores of homes had been damaged by the high winds and torrential rain, describing the storm as the worst to hit the region in more than a decade.

Regional officials said that a least seven villages in the region had lost road access because of mudslides, while the storm had also cause a bridge collapse and the overnight closure of the road to neighboring Kosovo.

Several homes in the city of Tetovo were also evacuated, authorities said.
