  • Pastor Saeed Abedini
    Saeed Abedini is an Iranian-American Christian pastor who was arrested in the summer of 2012 for apostasy and evangelizing before being imprisoned in the the brutal Evin Prison. Abedini and his family have maintained that he was only there helping to set up an orphanage that was actually sponsored by the regime government. Supporters have alleged that the State Department has not done enough to ensure his release.

  • Alan Gross
    Alan Gross, 65, was convicted by a Cuban court in March 2011 of “acts against the independence or the territorial integrity of the state," and is currently serving a 15-year prison sentence. He was originally arrested while working to set up internet networks for the island's Jewish community on a contract with USAID. His health has deteriorated while being incarcerated and many have spoken out against the State Department and the White House for not doing enough to get him back to the US.

  • Matthew Todd Miller
    Matthew Todd Miller is one of three Americans being held by North Korea. On Sunday he was sentenced to six years of hard labor for committing "hostile acts" as a tourist to the isolated country.  Miller entered North Korea last April and allegedly tore up his tourist visa and demanded Pyongyang grant him asylum, according to a release from state media at the time.

  • Matt and Grace Huang
    American couple Matthew and Grace Huang were jailed in Qatar on murder charges in January 2013, following the death of their daughter, Gloria. They were charged with starving their 8-year-old adopted daughter to death in the Gulf Arab country and sentenced to three years in prison in a verdict that stunned and shocked the family. The Huangs say their adopted daughter, who was born in Ghana, died of medical problems complicated by unusual eating habits that included periods of binging and self-starvation.

    Marine Andrew Tahmooressi has been held in a local jail since March 31, when he says he mistakenly crossed the border into Tijuana with three legally-purchased and registered guns in his truck. He is currently standing trial and  faces up to 21 years in prison if convicted. His attorney has claimed that Tahmooressi's civil rights were violated by Mexican authorities.
