SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic – The ex-wife of a reputed Caribbean drug kingpin has admitted laundering money for her former husband's alleged trafficking network.
Leavy Nin Batista acknowledged her guilt in a plea deal with prosecutors in the Dominican Republic on Monday. Terms of the deal have not yet been disclosed.
Spain extradited her last month.
Batista's ex-husband is Jose Figueroa Agosto. He was captured last year in Puerto Rico after spending a decade on the run while allegedly shipping Colombian cocaine to the U.S. mainland. He is now jailed in the Dominican Republic.
Prosecutors have accused eight other people of laundering money for him.
