DUBAI, United Arab Emirates – A top security official in Dubai is warning that a "clash of civilizations" is possible if Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump wins the U.S. general election.
Lt. Gen. Dhahi Khalfan Tamim, the deputy chairman of police and general security in Dubai, made the comment Friday in a post on Twitter.
He wrote: "If Trump beats Hillary (Clinton), that means that the scenario of the clash of civilizations ... will come to light at the hands of the candidate and al-Baghdadi," referencing the Islamic State group leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.
In a Republican debate Thursday night, Trump refused to back away from his recent statement that "Islam hates the West," saying he wouldn't stoop to being "politically correct."
