Guatemala's civil aviation office says the capital's international airport has been closed temporarily because an older-model cargo plane had problems with its landing gear and a propeller during landing and skidded on the runway. No injuries have been reported.
Civil aviation spokeswoman Oddra Lacs says the shutdown is expected to end quickly once the Convair cargo plane is removed.
Lacs says the plane came to rest about 100 meters (yards) from the airport's cargo hangers Friday. She says neither of the two crew members was injured in the mishap and the landing strip hasn't been seriously damaged.
