A Burundi official says one more demonstrator was killed Tuesday, bringing the death toll to 15 in continuing protests in the capital over President Pierre Nkurunziza's bid for a third term in office.

Government administrator Pauline Ruratotoye also said a policewoman was among those injured in the violence. More than 220 have been injured in the protests, which are now in their third week.

The latest violence comes on the eve of an East African Community meeting in Tanzania to discuss Burundi's violence.

The top U.S. diplomat for Africa, Linda Thomas-Greenfield, has travelled to the Tanzanian city of Dar es Salaam to participate in the emergency ministerial meeting on the situation in Burundi, according to a statement from the State Department.
