As part of the festivities, figures made out of a paper-mâché-type material, many of them satirizing the news, are displayed on the street. All but the one voted to be the best will be burned in a bonfire on Saturday, March 19. A play on "Snow White and the Seven Dwarves" titled, "Barakanieves y los subamericanitos." This entry features Barck Obama as Snow White and a bevy of Latin American leaders—including presidents Felipe Calderón (Mexico), Hugo Chávez (Venezuela), Cristina Fernández (Argentina), Dilma Rousseff (Brazil), and Sebastián Piñera (Chile)—make appearances.
