Australia will soon ban foreign 'hate preachers' and attempt to ban radical Hizb-ut-Tahrir
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Australia's prime minister says his government will soon introduce a system for banning foreign "hate preachers" from entering the country.
Prime Minister Tony Abbott also told Sydney Radio 2GB on Wednesday that he will attempt to outlaw the radical Islamic group Hizb-ut-Tahrir under proposed tougher counterterror laws.
Abbott says he is angry and frustrated that under existing counterterror laws his government cannot outlaw Hizb-ut-Tahrir, which is banned by several other countries.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}But under amendments before the Parliament, groups that promote terrorism would be banned. The current prohibition only applies to groups that engage in terrorism.
Abbott says he does not need new laws to ban hate preachers from traveling to Australia.
Abbott was reacting to a lecture that Hizb-ut-Tahrir is promoting in Sydney on Friday against U.S.-led combat in Syria.
